BurnBadger

Privacy policy

The short version

The BurnBadger app has no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your designs and photos stay on your device. The app only sends us something when you choose to: a BurnBadger code you enter, or a laser check you send with “Add my laser”.

Your designs and photos

Photos, drawings, text and saved designs are processed and stored on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Background removal and image processing run on the device. Jobs go straight from your device to your laser over USB or the laser’s own Wi-Fi. We never receive them.

The free upscaler

The upscaler at burnbadger.com/upscale works entirely in your web browser. Upscaling, background removal and the laser preview run on your own computer or phone, and your pictures are never uploaded to us or anyone else. Your browser downloads the AI files it needs (from our storage at Cloudflare) and keeps them so the next visit is faster.

BurnBadger codes

When you enter a BurnBadger code in the app, it sends us the code, a random ID the app creates for that device, and which kind of device it is (iPhone/iPad, Mac, Windows or Android). We use these only to unlock Pro and to limit how many devices each code unlocks. The device ID is not your Apple Account, your name or an advertising ID, and it can’t be used to identify you.

When you check a code on burnbadger.com/redeem, we look the code up and don’t store anything else.

“Add my laser” checks

If you send a laser check from the app (Laser → My Laser → Add my laser), it sends us your laser’s make and model as you typed them, the settings the laser reports about itself (its firmware version, bed size, power range and other GRBL settings), the measurements you typed, the photo you chose of the burned test card, which app and version you used, the app’s random device ID (to limit how many checks one copy can send), and the name and email you choose to add. If you send the photo from your phone at burnbadger.com/photo instead, we keep that photo with the same check.

We use these only to make BurnBadger work with your laser and to contact you about your check. The photo and email are never shown publicly. Your name appears on burnbadger.com/lasers only if you tick the box to be credited. Email us to have your check deleted.

If you fill in “Tell us your laser” on burnbadger.com/lasers, we keep your email, your laser, and what you told us, only to ask you to test BurnBadger.

Creator links and codes

If you arrive through a BurnBadger creator’s link (burnbadger.com/r/…), we set one small cookie for 30 days holding only that creator’s code, and count the visit (no name, no IP address), so the creator gets credit if you buy. If you buy with a creator’s code or link, your order is recorded with that creator so we can pay their commission. The creator sees the date, amount and their commission, never your name or email.

If you apply to the creator program, we keep what you send in the form, and as a creator your sales, payouts and payout details (like a PayPal email), to run the program and pay you.

Ideas and feedback

If you send an idea or feedback from burnbadger.com/request, we keep what you wrote and, only if you give it, your email so we can reply. We use them only to improve BurnBadger and never share them. Email us to have yours deleted.

Purchases

We count downloads from this website (which kind of computer, when, and the name of the site you came from, such as google.com), and the versions of BurnBadger downloaded from this website send us one note the first time they open: which kind of computer, the version, and a random ID that copy makes up so it’s only counted once. No name, email, IP address or cookie is kept for this. It tells us how many people are trying BurnBadger.

This website also uses Vercel Web Analytics to count visits: which pages are viewed, the country, and the kind of device and browser. It uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you or follow you to other sites.

Purchases in the iPhone, iPad and Mac apps are handled by Apple, and in the Android app by Google. We don’t receive your payment details, name or account.

If you buy Pro on this website (for Windows), the payment is handled by Stripe for Ranger Tales LLC. We receive your email address and the amount paid, and keep them with the code you were given so we can resend it or help with a refund. We never see your card details.

Our servers

burnbadger.com is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, it keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses) to run the service and stop abuse. We don’t sell or share any data with anyone.

Children

BurnBadger is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
